Congress Accuses BJP of “Tax Terrorism” Amidst Fresh Notices, BJP Allies Hit Back

top-news

The ongoing feud between the Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) escalated with the Income Tax Department sending two more notices to Congress, adding to the turmoil ignited by a ₹1,800 crore tax notice. The Congress has accused the BJP of “tax terrorism,” while BJP allies have criticized Congress, labeling it a “dishonest party” and accusing it of deflecting its own issues onto others.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh reiterated the party’s stance, denouncing the tax notices as part of a campaign to paralyze opposition parties orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed shock at receiving a notice on a closed matter, fueling the Congress’s claims of victimization.

In response, Jitan Ram Manjhi, National President of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and an NDA candidate, lambasted Congress, calling it “Chor Machaye Shor” (creating a ruckus to divert attention). He accused Congress of trying to shift blame and highlighted internal conflicts within the Congress-INDIA bloc.

BJP leaders and NDA allies took aim at the Congress-INDIA bloc’s Bharashtachar bachao andolan (save corruption movement), mocking it as “karenge hum bhrashtachar, kahenge isko shishtachar” (we’ll do corruption and call it decorum). They criticized the bloc’s organizational challenges and ideological differences, questioning its viability in upcoming elections.

The political landscape remains charged as accusations and counter-accusations fly, highlighting deep-rooted tensions and power struggles within Indian politics.
